Echo Node is developed and operated by Fighting Gravity Software LLC ("Echo Node," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how Echo Node handles information when you use the Android application and its optional cloud features.

THE SHORT VERSION
Echo Node is designed to work without an Echo Node account. Recordings and other user-created content remain on your device unless you choose a feature that sends data off the device, such as Gemini transcription, AI Summary, Google Drive backup, Google Play subscription verification, or sending a feedback email.
Echo Node does not sell personal information and does not use recordings, transcripts, notes, or summaries for advertising.
Echo Node collects limited, content-free feature-usage and reliability information to help us understand whether its features work and are useful. Optional feature-usage sharing is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings. This does not disable recording, transcription, summaries, or Voice Profiles. Essential cloud-service metering, purchase verification, and security processing remain necessary when you use those services.
INFORMATION THAT REMAINS ON YOUR DEVICE
The following information is stored locally unless you choose an applicable cloud, backup, export, or sharing action:
• audio recordings;
• notes and timestamped notes;
• transcripts and transcript edits;
• AI summaries saved in the app;
• recording names and metadata;
• app settings;
• voice profiles and voice embeddings used for local saved-voice recognition; and
• legal acceptance records.
When you accept the Terms of Use and acknowledge the Privacy Policy, Echo Node saves a receipt locally on your device. It includes the document versions and checksums, acceptance time reported by the device, app version, and your confirmation that you are at least 18 and agree to the Terms.
These receipts are not uploaded to Echo Node’s backend. They remain until app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. They do not establish the identity or consent of other people whose voices may be recorded or used for Voice Profiles.
APP FEATURE USAGE AND RELIABILITY
Echo Node may report events such as opening the app, saving a recording, opening the Library, requesting or completing transcription or a summary, saving a note, interacting with Premium offers, using Voice Profiles, and progressing through the tutorial. We also count opens and successful deletions of Echo Node’s packaged demo recording.
These events do not include recording audio, recording names or identifiers, transcripts, summaries, notes, search terms, tags, speaker names, voice embeddings, raw voice-match scores, or advertising identifiers.
Reliability events may include the feature and transcription provider used, free or Premium allowance category, operation stage and outcome, a limited error category, model version, broad recording-length ranges, and coarse Android and processor categories.
We use our own authenticated backend and Google Cloud logging and monitoring, rather than a third-party app analytics, advertising, attribution, or session-replay SDK. Aggregate product-usage event logs omit the installation identifier. Our infrastructure may separately process network and authentication metadata needed to receive requests and protect the service.
You can disable optional feature-usage sharing in Settings > Privacy & legal > Share feature usage. Turning it off clears unsent usage events from your device and stops new optional usage events from being queued. It does not delete events already delivered or disable essential service, billing, allowance, or security records.
INFORMATION PROCESSED WHEN YOU USE OPTIONAL CLOUD FEATURES
Gemini transcription
When you choose Gemini transcription, Echo Node sends an anonymous installation identifier and technical upload metadata to the Echo Node backend. Temporary decoded audio is then uploaded through a backend-authorized Google Gemini upload destination for transcription. Speaker labels or names you have chosen may be included when needed to produce or update the transcript.
Echo Node requests deletion of temporary Gemini-uploaded audio files after processing. Our backend does not persist recording audio, transcript content, or summary content.
Deleting a temporary upload does not mean that every provider-held copy or processing record is immediately deleted. Google’s Gemini API abuse-monitoring policy currently states that prompts, contextual information, and generated outputs are retained for 55 days for abuse prevention and required legal or regulatory disclosures. Flagged content may be reviewed by authorized Google personnel.
Google’s processing is governed by its applicable terms and policies, including its Gemini API abuse-monitoring policy.
AI Summary
When you request an AI Summary, the selected transcript, confirmed speaker names, and any confirmed "This is me" identity needed for the requested result are sent through the Echo Node backend to Google Gemini. The Echo Node backend does not persist the transcript or completed summary content.
AI transcripts, speaker assignments, voice matches, and summaries can contain mistakes. Review important results against the original recording.
Welcome allowance & Abuse Prevention
Echo Node provides introductory cloud allowances without requiring an Echo Node account. To determine eligibility and prevent repeated claims, we process a randomly generated installation identifier, allowance records, and Google Play Integrity verification results.
Google Play Integrity Device Recall may store an app-controlled marker indicating that a device has claimed Echo Node’s welcome allowance, together with the month the marker was written. Echo Node does not receive a hardware identifier from Device Recall.
Our backend stores a pseudonymous, purpose-specific record of the installation’s eligibility decision. When integrity verification is unavailable, a smaller fallback allowance may be offered.
Reinstalling the app, clearing its data, or deleting anonymous cloud data does not guarantee another welcome allowance.
Google Drive
Google Drive connection and backup are optional. If you connect Drive, Echo Node receives authorization to create and manage Echo Node backup files in the selected Google account. Echo Node may locally remember the connected account's email address so backup work remains associated with the correct account.
A Drive backup may include recording audio and a sidecar document containing associated Echo Node metadata or user-created content. You control whether Drive backup is used. Echo Node can move its Drive copies to trash and disconnect its access. Google may retain data according to your Google account settings and Google's policies.
Google Play purchases
Echo Node uses Google Play Billing to sell and restore Premium access. Google processes payment details. Echo Node does not receive your full card or bank information. Echo Node and its backend process purchase history, purchase tokens, subscription state, billing periods, and entitlement records needed to verify access, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and maintain allowances.
Founding 366 promotion
Founding 366 is an optional Premium promotion. When a user requests access, Echo Node and its backend use the anonymous installation identifier, Google Play subscription entitlement and integrity results, and a short-lived purpose-bound credential to verify eligibility and prevent duplicate or test claims. Google Play purchase tokens are processed by the backend for verification but are not collected in the claim form or stored in the Founding claim record. Echo Node does not ask for a Google Play order ID.
The claim page collects a private contact email, selected calendar date, stable approved animal token, rules acknowledgement, and a non-sensitive reservation identifier. The backend also records the private founder seat, confirmation and deadline timestamps, delivery state, claim status, and privacy-safe audit revisions needed to enforce availability, corrections, withdrawal, refunds, chargebacks, fraud prevention, and support. No public name, social handle, optional note, payment information, raw purchase token, or order ID is collected by the claim page.
Contact email is used only for the private receipt and campaign support and is never published. Public campaign and final-calendar views contain only the calendar date and animal. The private Settings status card may show the founder seat, date, animal, and claim status on the user’s device.
Claim sessions expire after 30 minutes. Correction and withdrawal credentials expire 24 hours after backend confirmation. Contact email and other support-only claim data are deleted 90 days after the founder-calendar app update ships. Privacy-safe reservation and audit status, including the redeemed-entitlement tombstone used to prevent duplicate claims, is deleted one year after campaign close. The identity-free date/animal mapping is retained indefinitely.
Tester access and feedback
Closed-test access codes are associated with tester-access and entitlement records. If you choose Settings > Email tester feedback, your email app prepares a message to Fighting Gravity Software. Echo Node includes basic diagnostic context such as app version, Android version, and phone model. Echo Node does not automatically attach recordings, transcripts, summaries, notes, or voice profiles.
TECHNICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION
Echo Node may process:
• a randomly generated anonymous installation identifier;
• app version, Android version, and device model;
• cloud-operation type, duration, allowance consumption, and counters;
• non-content status, latency, token-count, error, and service-health information;
• Google Play purchase and integrity verification results; and
• identifiers required by Google services for Drive, Billing, and Play Integrity.
This information is used to provide app functionality, operate Premium allowances, verify purchases, prevent fraud or abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain service reliability.
CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION COLLECTED
Depending on the optional features you use, Echo Node may collect or process:
• Personal information: chosen speaker names, a chosen self-name, connected Google account email, and service identifiers;
• Financial information: Google Play purchase and subscription history, excluding full payment-card or bank details;
• Audio files: recordings voluntarily submitted for Gemini transcription or Google Drive backup;
• Files and documents: optional Google Drive sidecar documents;
• App activity: cloud-feature interactions, notes, transcripts, speaker labels, summary inputs, usage counters, and non-content service telemetry;
• Diagnostics: error, status, latency, version, and service-health data; and
• Device or other identifiers: an anonymous installation identifier and Google service integrity or entitlement identifiers.
Echo Node does not request access to your location, contacts, calendar, browsing history, photo or video library, health databases, or messaging accounts as part of its current features.
Recordings, notes, transcripts, and summary inputs may nevertheless contain personal or sensitive information, including health information or information about other people. That content remains on your device unless you choose a feature that sends it to a cloud provider, backup destination, or another recipient. Content submitted to a cloud feature is processed to perform your requested operation.
HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Information is used only as reasonably necessary to:
• record, organize, transcribe, summarize, back up, restore, export, and play user content;
• verify Premium access and enforce purchased allowances;
• operate local and cloud features selected by the user;
• recognize saved voices locally after user confirmation;
• maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse;
• diagnose errors and improve reliability; and
• respond to support or tester feedback initiated by the user.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Echo Node uses service providers to perform functions on our behalf, including:
• Google Gemini / Google Cloud for optional AI transcription, summaries, and backend infrastructure;
• Google Drive for optional user-controlled backups;
• Google Play Billing for purchases and subscription management; and
• Google Play Integrity for installation, purchase, and abuse-prevention checks.
These providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy policies. Echo Node does not sell user data or provide it to data brokers.
SECURITY
Data sent between Echo Node, the Echo Node backend, and Google services is encrypted in transit using secure network connections. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, Google account, exported files, and backups.
RETENTION
• Local recordings and user-created content remain until you delete them or clear app data.
• Google Drive backups remain under your control and Google's applicable retention practices.
• Temporary Gemini audio is used for processing, and Echo Node requests deletion after the operation.
• The Echo Node backend does not persist recordings, transcript content, or summary content.
• Cloud operational records are retained for service operation, security, billing, allowance administration, and troubleshooting. Current production retention settings include approximately 45 days for usage-meter records, 400 days for installation grant-decision records, up to 400 days for inactive entitlement and commercial-balance records, 90 days after expiration for tester-code records, and 2 days for Gemini dispatch records. Some expiration periods run from the most recent activity or update; expired records may not be removed immediately.
• Content-free product-usage logs and aggregate metrics follow the project’s configured Google Cloud Logging and Monitoring retention. Google-held integrity and Device Recall records follow Google’s separate retention practices.
• Google Play and Google Drive may retain information under your relationship with Google and their applicable policies.
• Founding 366 records follow the separate retention periods described in that section.
YOUR CHOICES
You can:
• use local recording and On-Device transcription without Gemini;
• decline or stop using Premium cloud features;
• connect or disconnect Google Drive;
• delete local recordings, notes, transcripts, summaries, and voice profiles in the app;
• trash Echo Node backup copies from Drive; and
• manage or cancel a Premium subscription through Google Play;
• correct a Founding 366 date or animal, or withdraw the complete claim, during the 24-hour customer window; and
• contact jay@fgsw.dev about a Founding 366 receipt or privacy question using only the minimum information needed.
Echo Node does not require user accounts. You can request deletion of the current installation’s pseudonymous cloud records in Settings > Privacy & legal > Delete anonymous cloud data.
This removes installation-linked grant decisions, welcome-allowance records, recent usage-meter records, and subscription-link records. After successful deletion, Echo Node replaces its anonymous cloud identifier.
This action does not delete local recordings or Google Drive backups, cancel a Google Play subscription, reset welcome-allowance eligibility, or remove central purchase/accounting records, shared anti-abuse records, Google-held Device Recall markers, or Founding 366 records governed by their separate processes.
Aggregate product-usage event logs omit the installation identifier and cannot be isolated as one person’s activity history. For other privacy questions, contact jay@fgsw.dev.
RECORDING RESPONSIBILITY
Recording, consent, and notification laws vary by location and situation. You are responsible for obtaining any permission required by applicable law and for using recordings appropriately.
CHILDREN
Echo Node is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly design the service to collect personal information from children.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy when features, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when a revision is published.

When you visit fgsw.dev, Fighting Gravity Software uses Google Analytics to understand how the website is found and used. Google Analytics may process page views, referral source, browser and device information, interactions, approximate geographic information, and online identifiers. We use this information to measure website performance and improve our content and marketing.
